PhD Positions in Solar System Science at MPS Göttingen

The International Max Planck Research School for Solar System Science at the University of Göttingen in Germany (Solar System School) offers a research-oriented doctoral programme covering the physical aspects of Solar system science. It is jointly run by the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) and the University of Göttingen.

The Solar System School invites applications for several PhD positions, including projects in asteroseismology, helioseismology and solar physics.

The scientific topics in solar physics/heliophysics and solar and stellar interiors range from the Sun’s interior and subsurface dynamics investigated via global and local helioseismology (Gizon, Duvall, Birch, Schou) to the asteroseismology of solar-like and evolved stars (Hekker), and include among other things the investigations of  solar magnetic fields and the multitude of dynamic solar features (Solanki and others).
